The Immune System, The Defender

Updated: Mar 18, 2021

You've heard hundreds of stories about COVID-19 by now. And if you're like me you're constantly thinking of ways to avoid contracting the virus, or getting sick at all.

Staying on top of your health isn't always about working out, it's also about working from within.

Without giving you a full assessment, here are some ways that you can help keep your immune system healthy.

SLEEP

Most adults need 7 to 9 hours of sleep in order to function at their best. Sleeping helps your body recover from illness, and helps prepare it to defend against illness.

Having trouble sleeping? Try these yoga poses before bed!

Eat + Drink Healthy

It's beneficial to you if your drink tons of water eat whole foods (not the store but the original meaning). Foods that are derived from plants, like vegetables, fruit, whole grains, legumes. Try to keep sugar intake to a minimum, and eat fermented foods because they help with your gut microbiome. Healthy fats are great for you as well.

Reduce your stress

If you're under constant stress, it can directly effect the immune system. There are so many ways to help reduce stress but here are some of my favorites:

  • Yoga + Meditation

  • Adult coloring books

  • Reading

  • Watching my favorite movies

  • Running

  • Boxing

  • Finding the silver lining

Don't wait another day to actively try to be more healthy, DO IT NOW. Develop healthy habits and a healthy lifestyle now, it will end up benefiting you in the future.

Yours Truly,

The General
